HaHA Institute
The International Institute of Humor and Healing Arts.
A humor education center and virtual resource network founded by Karen Williams in 1988.

The brainchild of a comic, teacher, and healer
HaHA Institute is the brainchild of internationally acclaimed stand-up comic, humor educator, and inspirational speaker Karen Williams. Her background includes theatrical training, improvisational comedy, dance and movement, psychodrama, metaphysical studies, teaching, active parenting, and more than fifty years of Buddhist practice.
Our mission
The mission of HaHA Institute is to encourage the highest activation of human potential for compassion, wisdom, vitality, resilience, and life force through the daily use of humor and healing arts.
A whole-person practice
Humor opens the door. Healing arts help us walk through it.
The work draws from stress management, nutrition, exercise and movement, massage and healing touch, aromatherapy, mind-body awareness, and spiritual practice.
How HaHA serves
Education that is useful, concise, and alive.
Programs are available onsite and virtually, with CEUs available for eligible workshops. Sessions are designed for small businesses, nonprofits, corporations, colleges, community groups, and special events.
